Session Description: Whether navigating workplace conversations, community discussions, or personal interactions, we need to find ways to balance honesty with empathy, creating space for different perspectives while maintaining psychological safety. This is especially critical when we disagree or see things differently because of work, background and/or life experiences. This session will provide practical tools and insights to help attendees foster open and respectful conversations, emphasizing key distinctions between debate and dialogue. We will also explore βThe LARA Method,β a conversation tool designed to facilitate connection and transform difficult conversations into opportunities for growth and understanding.
Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the differences between debate, discussion, and dialogue.β
- Recognize the elements of psychological safety.β
- Apply principles from the LARA Method to encourage respectful dialogue and understanding when disagreements arise.
