Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based style of communication focused on helping individuals explore and resolve ambivalence by drawing out their internal motivation and capacity for change. This self-paced course provides learning materials including asynchronous presentations, recommended readings and a participant workbook that outlines a series of practice activities ranging from skill practice worksheets to detailed practice activities. These are outlined in five lessons that are recommended to be completed over a five-week timeline. Each lesson will build on the learning of the previous. Each weekly lesson is estimated to require 3.5 to 5 hours to complete for a total of 20 to 25 hours to complete the entire course. Participants will learn the principles, processes, and strategies of MI and how to utilize these in order to help clients move toward change.
Those participants that complete the course, and receive the completion certificate, will be invited to attend a one-day practice session (up to 30 participants).
